Last Friday, August 28, the football team had their first game of the season. The Trojans lost to the Clarinda Cardinals, 14-35.

Head Coach Eric Waldstein said, “The team played pretty well, we just didn’t come through with our big plays when we needed them.”

Senior Kyle Nelson scored the first touchdown of the night, ending the first half with the Trojans trailing the Cardinals 7-28. In the second half, senior Brendan Holmes scored the second touchdown.

Waldstein said, “A lot of guys stood out, we had a lot of questions about some of our new starters this season. They all really stepped up and showed that they were ready to play.”

This Friday, September 4, the Trojans play the Denison Monarchs in Denison.

Waldstein said, “This Friday we get to play our defense because we are going up against a team with a normal offense. It should be a really good game, two teams that are trying to rebuild programs from the ground up and make their mark this season.”

“Should be a great night for football!” said Waldstein.

The game starts at 7:30 p.m., and the theme is Hawaiian. Everyone come out and support!
