On Tuesday, April 14, the boys golf team played an 18 hole golf tournament in Shenandoah. The boys scored three strokes better than the year before, in a 306 to 307 victory.

There was an individual tie for first place between freshman Jake Olsen of Atlantic and Steven Martin of Shenandoah. The two golfers went into a playoff hole, with Olsen coming out on top with a par on the first hole. After the victory Olsen said, “ I started off pretty good until I had one bad hole. After that I knew I just had to make some pars to stay in the running. On hole 18 Martin made a nice putt to tie me, then I made a good par putt to send us in to a playoff. All of my teammates were supporting me in the playoff, so I felt pretty confident. On the first playoff hole I could have two-putted to go on to the next hole, but I made about a 10 footer to seal the deal. “

Olsen finished with a score of 72, along with a 76 from junior Kyle Nelson, a 78 from freshman Ben Renaud, an 80 from sophomore Zac Stork, an 86 from sophomore Nate Gifford, and a 97 from senior Kody Harris.

The boys golf team played at Denison on Thursday.  A story will be posted as a follow up.
