Senior Hannah McLean will be advancing to state speech in two events, Ensemble Acting “Patio” and Musical Theater “Shrek.” She has been an active speech member throughout all 4 years of high school. Congratulations to all the students in the groups chosen for state speech!

Hard work pays off.  Three of the six entries at the District Large Group for Iowa High School Speech Association competition in Audubon on Jan. 24 received a Division 1 rating.  These entries will advance to the State Large Group Speech competition held at West Des Moines Valley high school on Feb. 7.

The three entries who received 1 ratings are:

  • Ensemble Acting “Patio” – seniors Brecklyn Carey and Hannah McLean
  • Musical Theater “Shrek” – seniors Brecklyn Carey, Hannah McLean, Ben Parker, Justin Somers, Halee Glenn, and junior Andrew Rothfusz
  • Radio News “DCAR” – freshmen Danyelle Hass-Hunter, Cheyenne Elliot, and Riley Seufert

The events that received a II rating and will not be advancing to state:

  • Group Improv – senior Ben Parker and junior Lydia Joseph
  • Group Improv – freshmen Aaron Rothfusz and Gabby Holaday
  • Ensemble Acting – freshmen Rebekah Hallman and Josh McLean and junior Andrew Rothfusz
