The Atlantic boys basketball team kicked their season off with a victory against conference foe, St. Albert, 61-52.  The boys split the season series with the Falcons last season.

Leading the way for the Trojans was sophomore Garrett Franken who scored 28 points, including 4 of 10 from beyond the arc, and shooting 50% overall.  Franken also led the team by racking up fifteen total rebounds.

Behind Franken was junior Ryan Hawkins with 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals.  Then came seniors Nick Podhajsky, Tristen Benn, and Joey Walker with 8, 6, and 4 points respectively.

In addition, other players largely contributed to the victory without being recognized for such.  Junior and starter Brendan Holmes was held scoreless in the game, but grabbed 5 crucial offensive rebounds and led the team in that category.  Alongside Holmes was junior Kyle Nelson, who played valuable substitution minutes in place of point guard, Walker, and freshman Scott Leonard, who got his first varsity playing time in the first half.

The boys next game is Tuesday night in Red Oak at 7:30.  Make sure you come out and support the Trojans!
