The Atlantic Trojans girls basketball faced off against the Carroll Tigers on a home game debut Tuesday night, ending up in an easy victory for the Trojans. The starters were juniors Erin Olsen, Megan Reilly, Skye Thompson, and Tiffany Williams and senior Macey Schmitt.

The girls prepared for the game in practice by “conditioning a lot,” according to Schmitt. The Trojans started off the game rolling 10 to 0. With 4:06 left in the first, the Tigers were finally able to fire back with an and-1 lay-up.

Sophomore Stephanie Sandbothe came off the bench to knock down a couple of free throws with two minutes left of the first quarter after drawing a foul on a screen to open up the Trojan lead to 16-3. The Trojans ended the first quarter 18-5.

Thompson got the steal and made the layup to start off the 2nd quarter. The Trojans ended the first half 27-13. The girls won the third quarter also 16-8, making the score 43-21 at the end of the third.

With the mighty lead, the Trojans were able to play many of their bench players in this game. Both teams scored 10 points in the fourth quarter. Schmitt had six points, her game high for this season.

The Trojan girls clobbered the Tigers, finishing the game 53-31. Last year, the Trojans beat the Tigers 65-29. They are currently on a three game win streak. “Working hard in practice and keeping positive attitudes” is what’s going on to keep this streak, according to Thompson.
