Band Department Sends 10 Students to All-State Tryouts

On Saturday, Oct. 25, the AHS band department sent 10 band members to Harlan Community High School to tryout for the All-State Music Festival.

Jarrod O’Donnell said that there will be around 250 band members. “It will be an event with lots of fun for the students, but the day will be very long. In some cases, they have to wait a long time because of the recalls.” He said that means that they will be “stressed but happy in the end.”

The candidates for All-State received their music they had to present in July or August. They had been preparing the pieces of music since then, and had also been working on their major skills.

“The kids put in lots of hard work. Some of them will be upset, but in the end it will make them better musicians,” said O’Donnell.

The following students represented AHS at All-State tryouts for band:

Riley Seufert – Flute

Emily Yager – Clarinet

Rebekah Hallman – Clarinet

Sidney Gifford – Alto Clarinet

Katie Darrow – Alto Sax

Tim Davidson – Alto Sax

Nadia Somers – French Horn

Seth Schulte – Trombone

Josh McLean – Baritone

Miranda Chipman – Percussion
