Senior Lauren Krogman earned the award of “Most Valuable Cheerleader” at the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association All-Star games last weekend. Krogman is a senior at AHS and has participated in both football and basketball cheerleading throughout her four years of high school.
The basketball games were held at the Dallas Center Grimes High School gym and included top players from all over the state in four games. The All-Star cheerleaders performed a three-minute routine that included stunts, dances, and a cheer. Forty-two cheerleaders were selected from video try-out tapes to perform at the games. From the 42 participants, Krogman was named Most Valuable for her attitude, skill level, and desire to improve.
Krogman said, “I had a really great time and I loved performing in front of the crowd. I was very honored to receive the award, and I wish I could get the chance to experience it again next year.” Last summer, Krogman participated as a cheerleader in the Shrine Bowl and will be performing in it again this July.
