NHS members of AHS are participating in their annual “Secret Student” activity. Each Secret Student will give three gifts to a faculty member, with a note included a hint at who he/she is. The gifts are a “late Dhristmas” presents to the teachers to show they’re appreciated by the students of AHS. All high school faculty, teachers, custodians, para-educators, and administrative workers are included.
“I think it is a good idea because we can meet students that we don’t have in our classroom,” said special education teacher Mandi Brauer.
The teachers are supposed to guess who the students are by the clues provided. Such clues may be, “I am planning on attending Iowa State University next year” or “I play basketball and soccer.” If the teacher is unable to guess, the student will reveal him/herself to the teacher after the third gift is given. The teachers can guess who their secret student is anytime they want to. All three gifts are to be given to the faculty by Jan. 25.
Senior NHS member Kristin Johnk said, “It is a fun activity that NHS members get to participate in and show the teachers that they are appreciated with everything they do. Some teachers even end up returning the favor and giving their secret student a gift!”
