As Christmas rolls around, so do semester tests in Atlantic High School. Semester tests are a big deal for students because it makes or breaks grades for some. Others stress out way too much over them, making them even more of a headache. Some kids are good test takers and they don’t fret when these tests roll around and some aren’t as good taking tests making this a dreadful week.

I personally do not care for semester tests. I believe it’s too much information given to us in the five months we’ve been in school be put on one test.

Junior Karly Monson was asked how she felt about semester tests and she said, ”I think if a student has an A in the class, they should be exempt from taking the test. They obviously paid attention, learned the information, and did well on the tests. If a student has worked hard all semester and has an A to show, taking a semester test can only maintain or lower their grade.”

Junior Brody Peterson said, ”I don’t think semester tests are a good way of showing what we learned. I can’t remember what I ate for lunch yesterday, let alone stuff we covered a month ago. I think we should just get rid of semester tests so everyone would be happy.”

Senior Kelsey Hamilton said, “Government is very stressful and I don’t think as many people take them seriously like they used to.”

Students don’t seem to be very fond of semester tests. They take forever to study for and students still might not get the grade they’re wanting. I think we should get rid of them and let the students show what they know in a different form, that way they’ll get the grade they deserve.
