Atlantic sophomore cross-country runner Tiffany Williams competed at the state meet Nov. 2 in Fort Dodge. This was Williams’ second state meet and she was looking forward to performing at an all time high. According to coach Phil Iekel, Tiffany has had “a strong and consistent season, with many of her races running about 20-30 seconds faster than last year.”
Throughout Williams’ final week of practice, she was accompanied by many of her teammates, including her brother, Josiah, who encouraged her to give a 100% effort at every practice.
“Tiffany has had a good week of practice. We’re hoping for a good performance from her at state,” stated coach Phil Iekel prior to the state meet.
Williams’ hard work, determination, and encouragement from her team prevailed as she placed 24th with a time of 15:38 in the class 3A division. Williams finished 38 places better than last year and also knocked off .38 seconds from her time of 16:08 at the 2012 state meet.
