Several Atlantic High School students participated in annual All-State auditions on Saturday, Oct. 26 in Harlan, Iowa. All- State is a prestigious honor choir/band for high schoolers in Iowa.
The Atlantic students met for breakfast at the high school at 5 a.m. They also had time to warm up and practice. The students arrived in Harlan at around 7:45 a.m. After arriving in Harlan, the students had separate times to audition.
The following students auditioned for the All-State Choir: Brecklyn Carey, Morgan Munsey, Justin Somers, Alyssa C, Valerie Watson, Shelby McKinley, Halee Glenn, Preston Hoye, Hannah Jespersen, and Ben Parker. The following auditioned for band: Nadia Somers, Emily Yager, Katie Darrow, Paige Sorensen, and Sydney Gifford.
Senior Preston Hoye and Junior Ben Parker made the All-State choir outright. Juniors Justin Somers and Haley Glenn and Seniors Paige Sorenson and Hannah Jespersen were recalled. Jespersen was later accepted.
The All-State choir and band will perform Nov. 23, in Ames, Iowa.
