Student Shares her College Visit Experience

By Macey Schmitt

Finding the right college for can take a lot of work. Scheduling college visits as a junior is very beneficial in searching for the right college. If you wait until you are a senior you don’t have as much time to visit as many colleges as you could if you were a junior. It is good to get the “feeling” of the college experience before you send in your application.

I, a junior, started my college visits Tuesday, Oct. 8 of this school year. I wanted to start my visits as soon as possible to find the right college for me. I want to be a nurse so I first looked into colleges with good nursing programs. I want to be able to visit as many colleges as possible so I can decide the pros and cons of each of them.

My parents and I went to Morningside College and Briar Cliff University. Both of which are located in Sioux City, Iowa. Each college had their pros and cons but overall I preferred Morningside. I plan to visit University of Iowa and the University of the Nebraska Medical Center in the near future. I believe that starting your college visits early will be the best way to find your perfect college.

Scheduling a college visit is very simple and anyone can do it! All it takes is to get online and visit their website. Once you find contact information you simply give them a call or send them an e-mail saying when you would like to visit. Most colleges are very welcoming and want you to feel like you are apart of them.
