On Tuesday, Oct. 8 excited students wanting to expand their knowledge of Spanish, met up in Daniel Vargason’s room at 7:30 p.m. to talk about their new club.  Vargason started this club to give students an opportunity to be part of a club in their school.  He says he wants to, “take the boring out of Spanish and make it fun for students.”

When Vargason first started it he was just hoping that people would show up being that it’s, “not exciting when you just think about it.”   He wanted to change that.  Now that people are showing up, he just hopes that he can keep the consistency and get more involved.  Vargason says it makes his day to, “see someone involved that isn’t,” and that he wants to reach at least one student.

Tuesdays meeting started out by some of the student paying $13.50 for the Spanish Club T-shirts.  After the students paid for the shirts, the meeting began with the voting of officers.  It was a close vote but Hannah Mclean came out as the club’s President, Garret McConnell became the club’s Vice President, Haley Schweigert is the Public Relations, and Taylor Berns is now the Secretary.

The club then decided on activities that they would do for the upcoming meetings.  On Oct. 17, Spanish Club will be having a game night.  Other activities that they plan to do include: a scavenger hunt, reading spanish books to children, litter pick-up, Christmas carolling, and bingo night with the elderly.  They plan on doing activities that are fun and then some that will help out the community.  If you would like to come to a meeting you can check the meetings dates here, https://sites.google.com/a/atlanticiaschools.org/senorv/spanish-club.
