By Kylie Juelsgaard

Every year, Earth and Environmental Science teacher Kathy Hobson takes all of her classes on a walk for National Walk to School Day. National Walk Day took place on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Hobson took every one of her classes for a walk.

A total of 161 students took a part in the walk. During their class times they would go out and walk through the Heritage House path, up by Nishna Hills, or around the track.

Sophomore Marcus Maley said “it’s fun and I like fall.” He also says it’s good exercise.

Freshman Nathan Gifford said he’s excited to go for the walk.

Sophomore Dakota Sandbothe said, “I am also excited for the walk. I enjoy fall and seeing the colorful leaves on the trees.”

Junior Courtney Jensen from Hobson’s Environmental Science said, “It’s a fun activity and lets everyone get some fresh air. It was a perfect day to do it because it was nice out. Fall is a great time to take long walks because of the pretty trees.”

Junior Lane Freeman said, “I like to look at the colorful trees. It was good exercise and it was better than sitting in class.”

Junior Kate Fulk said, “I thought it was a good experience and a good chance to get out of the classroom for a little bit. And fall is most definitely my favorite time of the year.”

Junior Robby Bodine said, “It was nice to get a break from school and get outside.”

Hobson plans on doing this again next year.
