Changes are taking place in the business wing next year. Financial Literacy standards will be taught in Rhonda Hawkins’ personal finance classes.
The students will be able to get the technology requirements that are needed to meet Iowa Core standards. Technology standards will also be taught in general business classes.
Hawkins said her students are missing how to keep track of their debit cards’ balances. “Unless parents will cosign, students can’t get credit cards. That is a good thing, I believe, or else they will already have credit problems before they are out on their own,” said Hawkins.
Hawkins also mentioned students need to learn how to manage their accounts properly, budget their money, know how much to put into their savings accounts, and figure out how much money they will need for college.
