According to the Atlantic Community School District technology director Roger Warne, the district website was compromised (hacked) on Friday, April 12. Warne said he was notified by the web host that they had shut our website down and they need to work through the protocol to get the site running again. Once it’s up and running, they should be able to figure out what happened and maybe even who is responsible for the occurrence.
Warne said we are not the only school who was affected by the hack. He said we have never been hacked before.
As of 3 p.m. Friday, Warne did not know what happened, who did it, or what caused it. He said the host site is working on the problem and will let him know when they figure it out.
AHS secretary Cathy Knuth said she was impacted by the website issue because she could not purchase supplies. She said she heard of the issue from Mrs. Jipsen. She then received a district-wide email from Warne.
As of 3:25 p.m. the site contained links to a variety of non-school-related graphic pictures.
