Atlantic vs. Harlan Basketball Highlights

Photos by Bree Kixmiller
Story by Blake Meneely

The Atlantic Trojans played the Harlan Cyclones for the sub-state finals on Monday, Feb 25, at Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs. The Trojans, Hawkeye 10 Conference Champions, were the number one seed for District 8. The Trojans had been waiting for this game since the loss last year in second round against the Cyclones.

The Trojans were in the lead at the start but slowed down after the first quarter. The Trojans battled close in a physical game, but ended up losing 52-43. Although the senior-heavy team had hoped to make an appearance at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, they closed their season with an honorable 22-2 record.

Senior Harrison Hoegh said the season’s end left him with little to say. “It was fun playing with my teammates.”

The AHS crowd came out in full force, dressed in neon for the game. The crowd was good, said Hoegh. “They were loud.”
