State wrestling took place this past week/weekend at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, IA. Atlantic sent three wrestlers; junior Dillion Cox, senior Matt Williamson and senior Tyler Stork. The competition started on Thursday.
Cox won and lost a match on Thursday, taking him into a match on Friday that ended in a loss. Stork lost both of his matches on Thursday, ending his chance to have a state title. Matt Williamson won and lost a match on Thursday also taking him into Friday’s competition. Williamson ended his season with an 8th place finish in the state on Friday. “I want to be a state champ”, says Cox. This will challenge him in the off season to better himself and his teammates. Cox said, “This season was not as good as it could have been, but we have made some improvements.”
The competition ended that Friday evening awarding the wrestlers with their earned medals.
